Winter Storm Watch

6 02 2010

Good morning!winter storm watch 2/6

Our first winter storm watch in a little while was issued a little after 3 this morning for a very odd area. Some areas may receive 6-10″ of snow but we should be 2-4″ starting Sunday morning and ending Monday night.

The National Weather Service is saying “a significant amount of uncertainty on exactly where these weather systems will track” so we’ll see what happens with this one.

Have a great day!

Christmas Winter Storm Warning

22 12 2009

Good afternoon!

The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Warnings for us which extends the gargantuan warning area all the way from Denver to Duluth (pink is winter storm warning/blue is winter storm watch).

I love – and cry at – this graphic from the Twin Cities NWS with all the snow.

Current guesses from NWS, Weather Watch (our paid weather service), Paul Douglas at Conservation Minnesota and MPR put us in line from 8-18″ of snow over the next few days. It will begin tomorrow evening and slowly stretch through Saturday midday. The bulk of the snow will come Thursday night and Wednesday along with a possible shot of freezing rain Christmas Eve.

Tomorrow I will let you know Our Plan for how we are handling this snow.

Have a great night!

Brad

Christmas Winter Storm Watch

21 12 2009

Good afternoon!

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for southern half of Minnesota, the northwest 2/3 of Iowa, all of South Dakota and far west Wisconsin with Winter Storm Warnings and Blizzard Watches for Kansas and Nebraska.

This mammoth storm is threatening to pound the upper midwest with 15-20″ of snow from Wednesday to Friday.

Good luck!

Winter Storm Watch issued for Metro

6 12 2009

Let it begin…wall-to-wall coverage for the first major storm of the season!

National Weather Service has just issued a Winter Storm Watch for the metro area and much of eastern Minnesota the entire state of Wisconsin. Southern Minnesota from Mankato/Owatonna/Rochester south to the Iowa border is in a Blizzard Watch due to strong winds anticipated with this storm.

Many sources are saying the brunt of this storm will stay south of the metro, but Tuesday night is eons away in weather time.

I’ll keep you up-to-date with information as it comes.

Have a great Sunday night!

Brad

A Happy October Snow

11 10 2009

Good afternoon!

What an exciting day! It is actually beautiful out today. The sun is out, the wind is soft and Fall is definitely in the air. However, I have a foreboding feeling that we are actually going to get some snow tomorrow.

The State Climatology Office’s information says yesterday was the first time Minnesota has seen measurable snow in October since 2002 when .6″ fell on Oct 20-21. The crazier statistic is that it has only snowed in the first half of the month 8 times in sixty years with all but three of those being less than .5″.

The National Weather Service has updated their Winter Weather Advisory to include the Twin Cities region. Since this is our first advisory of the season I put together the winter terms (left) our clients need to know as a refresher going into the winter season (I just got kind of used to fall).

Check out more information on winter weather at in our Knowledge Base.

Best of luck traveling tomorrow!
